Group to hold car wash to benefit THON this weekend
Altoona Benefiting THON will hold a car wash from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Professionals Auto Body in Duncansville.
Altoona Benefiting THON is a student-run organization at Penn State Altoona. Its mission is to raise money for families impacted by childhood cancer. Any donation amount will be accepted to receive a carwash. All donations will go toward pediatric cancer research.
Grant opportunity available for small businesses, farmers
The Small Business Advantage Grant program is accepting applications from farms and small businesses looking to improve their operations through energy efficiency, pollution prevention and natural resource protection.
The state Department of Environmental Protection is awarding up to $5,000 for each grant.
Grants are available for HVAC and boiler upgrades, high-efficiency LED lighting, solvent recovery and waste recycling systems, auxiliary power units that eliminate truck engine idling, and other projects that reduce energy use, as well as streambank buffers, livestock fencing and other agricultural stormwater runoff management projects.

Conemaugh Physician Group opens ENT clinic
Conemaugh Physician Group recently opened an ear, nose, and throat clinic at the Conemaugh East Hills Outpatient Center, 1450 Scalp Ave.
The clinic treats adults and children with a range of ear, nose and throat conditions including chronic ear infections, tonsil and adenoid diseases, mouth and throat cancer, hearing disorders and thyroid diseases.
The clinic, open Monday through Friday, is staffed by three certified ENT specialists.
Weis launches Fight Hunger campaign at local stores
Weis Markets has launched its annual Fight Hunger in-store donation program in support of hundreds of local food banks and regional food pantries.
The program runs through the end of September. At checkout, customers have the option of rounding up their order or purchasing a $1, $3, $5 or $10 voucher to help support families in need in their communities.
