Lawrence Gordon Obituary (1929 – 2021) – Alamo, CA

Lawrence I. Gordon
June 18, 1929 – July 12, 2021
Resident of Alamo, CA
Larry passed away peacefully in Walnut Creek surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by wife Robin Gordon; children Jeff Gordon (Akiko), Randy Gordon (Mardeen) and Marcy Abrahams; grandchildren Neil Gordon (Jessica), Barry Gordon (Shelly), Lital Abrahams, Oren Abrahams and Ryland Gordon and great-grandchildren Khloe and Caleb Gordon and Dylan and Audrey Gordon.
Larry was born in Indianapolis, and adopted in New York when he was 18 months old. One of the highlights and a major influence in his life was attending the Todd School for Boys in Woodstock, Illinois, for his final two years of high school. He then attended the University of Iowa and finished his education at a Real Estate school in Chicago where he met Robin.
They moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where they lived for 15 years, raising their three young children. Career opportunities took him to Indianapolis where he worked as a leasing agent for Melvin Simon & Associates, a large shopping center developer, and finally to the San Francisco Bay Area where he finished his career with TJX Corp (T.J.MAXX, Marshalls and Home Goods), facilitating the opening of new stores throughout the Western U.S. region.
Being a volunteer at John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek for over 25 years was a great joy in Larry’s life where he became highly respected and loved by all who knew him. He and his wife were active members in many Temple congregations throughout their lives also. He loved sports, enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of local baseball, football & basketball teams.
Larry was admired and cherished by his many friends, business associates and family members for his sense of humor, professional integrity and compassion. He will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who were privileged to know him.
A private graveside funeral was held at Gan Shalom Cemetery on July 16, 2021. The family suggests that donations may be made to: Congregation B’nai Tikvah, Walnut Creek, John Muir Health Foundation or charity of choice.
