Frederick High asks for new mascot suggestions
Mike Wilson: Warriors exist in nearly every society, and while American Indians were excellent warriors it is not something specific to the American Indian. If it is not possible to forgo the idiocy of the mascot naming madness, keep the name and simply change the image to a Viking or something similar.
Brian Reasor: They do know they can still be called Warriors and still take out the Native American connotations and imagery, right? Warriors could be in reference to Spartans, Trojans or any other group of warriors referenced throughout world history. Keep the name, drop Native American references. Done deal. Jus sayin’.
Nicole LeMar: I suggested a Veteran as mascot with the Warrior name.
Nicole Kline: So sad that it has to be removed. What the hell is wrong with the world? It should be considered an honor to remember the different cultures.
Cutter Shea: School Shooting = crickets. Change school name or mascot = outrage.
Tracey Lee Granger: Hmm. Warriors are strong, upstanding people that fight for their rights. I guess I’m missing something. I hope all the bears and lions don’t start getting offended. Look out, Eagles! We’re coming for you!
Gloria Painter: Look up the definition of warrior: a brave or experienced soldier or fighter. Not scientists, Native Americans, bikers, but soldiers or fighters. People need to get over themselves.
Timothy Jones: New mascot: Anti-vaxxer.
Dave Larison: It’s so ridiculous. The most woke city in the country (San Francisco) proudly exalts their NBA Golden State Warriors.
Rob Web: I suggested jumping spiders, tardigrades, capybara
Josh McGlothlin: Frederick Frackers.
Longmont City Council advances ‘Health Beverages for Children’s Meals’ ordinance
Cathy Hartigan: Have they ever revealed the results of the survey they put out? I see very little support on any comments when this topic is published, so why is this moving forward?
Cody Scanland: This is an idiotic waste of time! There already are those options everywhere you go! No one is forcing soda on the children, there’s always water/milk/ juice. Leave people alone.
Karl Lee: Water is healthier, and every restaurant gives it away for free.
Jeffrey Justice: This ordinance is short on beans and long on BS. There are many beverages that are considered not healthy for kids — including cow’s milk and unsweetened non-dairy milk substitutes — which the government wants to put on this menu. Oh, I’m sure kids will just love unsweetened almond or rice milk. Those opposed please come to the public hearing and state your viewpoint. The nanny state folks and idealistic cheerleaders certainly will. We don’t need more government overreach.
Boulder, Loveland residents seek to help Afghan refugees
Clayton Casey: Bring them here. So many jobs available, I’m sure they would love to work.
Stephen Holguin: Forget about the homeless veterans and people with mental health issues tied to their fight in the Middle East. Save the people you attempted (yet failed) to save instead of the men and women you forced over there to save them!
Jethro Noonan: Are the vaccinated? Are they tested? What about our Veterans? Why don’t you want to help them?
Longmont police pay off toll fees, update policy following license plate issue
Jeffrey Justice: It is fortunate an investigative reporter took the time to research this charlie foxtrot. Hopefully LPD apologized to the woman.
Barbara McKinney Streander: As they should.
James Herring: So the police are allowed to “borrow” items from the evidence locker?
Kim Zippy: You couldn’t make this up if you tried.
Colorado health director signals additional rule tightening amid delta variant surge
Jethro Noonan: Boulder County votes on their indoor mask mandate on Monday. It is going to be approved, according to the business webinar they held yesterday.
Sheri Hasenack Garczynski: Should be our choice!
Lyons residents complain project to install cell ‘nodes’ began without notice
Mike Blowers: When you buy a home they have in the paperwork that there is an easement surrounding your property. Educate yourself, people.
Connor Blank: Crying about faster internet. Yank it and send them back to the stone age. Zero kbps for you.
Longmont Oktoberfest rescheduled due to coronavirus concerns
Brenda Welsh Kelley: And so it begins all over again.
Cassandra Kirbykugler: We sure called this one, didn’t we.
Thomas Lawson: Kudos for listening to the experts and not the YouTube MDs. Also for a great cause! (https://awomanswork.org/) FYI: Do not take the kook prescribed Ivermectin or inject bleach. Instead get the FDA approved vaccination and wear a mask. We can beat this thing.
Longmont’s first critical COVID-19 patient gives back to the community at UCHealth Longs Peak

Jessica Lee: Yes, he was wonderful!

Jethro Noonan: Hopefully the low hospitalization numbers in Boulder County remain this way! Thank you for your hard work.
